5th Medical Group Clinic Modernization

Location Minot AFB, ND
Square Footage 63,918 SF

This multi-phased renovation touched approximately 62,918 square feet and 22 departments of the outpatient clinic at Minot AFB. The facility was originally designed as a hospital but is now operating as a medical clinic. As such, the renovation addressed issues like adequate layouts, sizing, HVAC and electrical utilities, and updated equipment. Among the 22 departments included in the renovation were Physical Therapy, Radiology, Mental Health, Systems, Ambulance Services, Flight Medicine, Tricare Operations Patient Administration, BioEnvironmental Engineering, and Public Health.

Mill Creek provided all initial outfitting services on this project including project management, inventory, artwork & interior design, medical equipment planning, transition planning and move management, low voltage/communications system design, FFE-LVS installation, public relations/special events, billings, close-out, and warranty. The construction was divided into three main schedule phases, allowing work to occur concurrently between departments that were not dependent on each other from a transitional standpoint. For the transition, Mill Creek inventoried 4,450 items down to the room level.

Mill Creek's team worked meticulously to make sure that the transitions run as smoothly as possible, while staying on budget and on schedule. One example of this meticulous attention to detail was noticing that computer carts were not specified in the Dental Treatment Rooms (DTRs). Through managing the design of the IO-C Commodities and budget, we were able to save enough funding to procure the additional carts.
