This is a renovation project for the Joint Base Charleston Medical and Dental Clinic. The purpose of this project is to reconfigure, right-size, consolidate operations, update workspaces, and realign the Medical Clinic, Dental Clinic, Medical Supply, Mental Health, Resource Management, and Education and Training. To fix infrastructure issues, Building 1000, which houses Mental Health, Resource Management, and Education and Training, will be demolished and rebuilt in its place as a world-class education and training facility. This will include significant improvements to infrastructure and revamping of the floor plan to meet modern healthcare standards and requirements. The Mental Health and Resource Management departments will move directly to their new spaces following construction, while Education and Training will move into a temporary facility during renovations.
Buildings 364 will have its departments re-aligned to better suit the purposes of the Medical and Dental Clinics and promote more seamless operations. During construction, the Medical and Dental Clinic will move into a temporary facility.
Building 1001, Medical Supply, will have a 2,250 square foot expansion, to include Facility Management, Logistics, NDSD Laboratory Departments, and Mental Health Storage. Construction on building 1001 will not impact operations, nor will logistics warehouse personnel be relocated.
The renovations will focus on sustainability, efficiency, accessibility, and safety. Design includes increased infection control and new state-of-the-art equipment throughout. The new layouts were designed to maximize workflow and patient privacy. New ADA/ABA ramps and entrances will also be added to the buildings.
