Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Peterson Space Force Base

On January 24, 2022, we joined the 21st Medical Group to celebrate the completion of the clinic modernization at Peterson Space Force Base with a ribbon cutting ceremony!

This marks the completion of a 2-year construction project, spanning 40,796 square feet. Renovations touched 11 departments, including Pharmacy, Medical Management, Medical Information Systems, Women’s Health, Education and Training, FOMC/BOMC, Public Health, Family Health, Pediatrics, Immunizations, and Logistics.

Medical Group Commander Col. Patrick A. Pohle was the presiding official of the ceremony. Peterson-Schriever Garrison Commander, Col. Shay Warakomski and Colorado Market Director, Col. Kevin Bass did the honors of cutting the ribbon.

Mill Creek’s Role

As a subcontractor to StructSure Projects, Mill Creek provided initial outfitting and transition planning services for the renovation including project management, inventory, artwork & interior design, medical equipment planning, transition planning and move management, low voltage/communications system design, FFE-LVS installation, public relations/special events, billings, close-out, and warranty.

Mill Creek’s team was honored to get to play a role in this project and work with such a great team!

About the Renovation

In addition to Mill Creek’s scope, renovations included mechanical systems, electrical systems, low voltage systems, fire protection, and structural improvements.

With a focus on health and wellness, the design of the new space improves the patient and staff experience. Design features include soothing colors, natural lighting, themed artwork, and acoustics to relieve stress and anxiety. New spaces have shorter travel distances, more seating, clearer wayfinding, improved patient privacy, and minimized noise.

Women’s Health Waiting Area

Renovations also included replacing the mechanical infrastructure system, resulting in improved indoor air quality, energy conservation, and reduced maintenance needs. Another energy efficient upgrade is the addition of tankless gas water heaters, more sustainable and reliable than the previous water heating system.

In addition to sustainability, safety was a top priority in renovations. One example of this is the new high-tech fire protection system and the addition of mass notification speakers to all areas of the building. This system improves overall safety and communication, while reducing the risk of water damage, operational disruption and maintenance costs.
